Preparing for Results Day and Returning Students: How to Maximise Your Studentpad Site

Results Day is one of the busiest times of the year for student accommodation teams. Whether you're supporting first-year students, those arriving through Clearing, international students, or returning students looking for their next home, a few simple steps can help ensure your Studentpad site is ready for the increase in demand.

Student accommodation is a key part of the student experience, and by working together across your university, you can help ensure students have access to trusted accommodation choices that meet their individual needs.

1. Encourage Landlords to List Any Remaining Availability

Now is the perfect time to contact your landlords and accommodation providers.

Even if they only have one or two rooms available, encourage them to advertise these on Studentpad. Many students begin searching immediately after Results Day, and every additional property helps increase the choice available.

A quick reminder to landlords can make a real difference in helping students find suitable accommodation.

2. Ask Landlords to Refresh Their Property Listings

First impressions matter, especially when students are making important decisions about where they will live.

Encourage landlords to:

  • Update property descriptions.
  • Add their latest availability.
  • Upload clear, recent photos.
  • Check rent details and property information are accurate.
  • Highlight key features that may be important to students.

Landlords should also be encouraged to flag accessibility and mobility features within their properties, such as step-free access, accessible bathrooms, ground-floor rooms or other adaptations.

Making this information visible helps students with additional needs, including disabled students and those requiring specific accommodation features, find properties that are suitable for them.

3. Promote Premium Listing Opportunities

If your Studentpad site offers promotional options such as Boost Properties, homepage listings or banner advertising, Results Day is the ideal time to highlight these opportunities to landlords.

When student searches increase, these options help properties stand out and can support landlords looking to fill remaining rooms quickly.

4. Work With Teams Across Your University

Accommodation choices affect many areas of the student experience, so involving other teams across your university can help increase awareness and reach more students.

Consider working with:

  • Students' Union teams, SU advice teams  or internal accommodation teams if you are part of the SU – to reach students through student channels and communities.
  • Student support and welfare teams – to ensure students know where to find trusted accommodation advice.
  • International student teams – particularly to support students arriving from overseas who may need help understanding UK accommodation options.
  • Finance teams – to support conversations around budgeting, deposits, rent and accommodation costs.

By working together, you can ensure students receive consistent guidance and know where to find trusted accommodation options.

5. Support First Years and Returning Students

Every university's accommodation situation is different.

Some first-year students may have guaranteed halls, while others may need to explore private accommodation from the start. Returning students often begin looking earlier for houses, flats or rooms for their next academic year.

Whatever your halls provision, raising awareness of Studentpad helps ensure all students have access to the full range of accommodation choices available to them.

Do you still have rooms in halls? Consider putting your halls on your Studentpad site for returning students, adding a homepage/featured listing can help boost this further!

6. Encourage Students to Create a FREE Studentpad Account

Help students get ahead by encouraging them to:

  • Create a FREE Studentpad account.
  • Save favourite properties to their Hot List.
  • Set up FREE property alerts.
  • Start searching early.

Students who register and set up alerts are more likely to hear about suitable accommodation as soon as it becomes available.

7. Use Our Free Marketing Resources

We provide a range of free resources to help universities promote Studentpad throughout the year, including:

  • Results Day social media content.
  • Clearing campaign graphics.
  • Student email and newsletter content.
  • Website banners and promotional materials.

These resources make it easier to keep accommodation front of mind without creating additional workload for your team.

8. Prepare for Freshers and Welcome Events

Freshers' Week is a great opportunity to introduce students to Studentpad.

We can provide promotional packs and materials ahead of September to help you promote the platform at welcome events, accommodation briefings and student fairs.

Early awareness helps students know where to go when they need trusted accommodation information.
